DOCUMENTING WORLDWIDE

I'm a hopeless romantic who loves love. I strive to document you as you are - unscripted and raw. I allow the happy couples to be happy, the awkward couples to be awkward, and the quiet couples to be quiet.

Hii there, and welcome! I’m Shaina – the heart behind Shaina Sterrett Photography. I’m so glad you’ve found your way to my little corner of the internet! As a Nova Scotia wedding photographer, I’m proud to serve the Maritimes and beyond, creating timeless keepsakes for couples near and far. Originally from St. John’s, Newfoundland, I moved to Nova Scotia when I was just five years old, and it’s been home ever since. When I’m not capturing love stories or perfecting galleries, you’ll likely find me cozied up with my two sweet kitties on my laptop, devouring pizza (the ultimate comfort food), thrifting for vintage trinkets, or hunting for unique home decor. Travel fuels my soul, and I’m always planning my next adventure – I thrive on that adrenaline rush of exploring somewhere new and start getting antsy if life feels too still for too long!

Meet Shaina

pronounced "Shay-Nuh"

I’ve had a camera in my hands for what feels like my entire life - it’s been about 21 years to be exact! I got my first DSLR at 11 years old as a Christmas present (after begging and begging my parents) & instantly became infatuated with photography + photoshop. I was always that kid glued to a computer (started super young at age 4 which was less common back when I was a kid hahah), so it just made sense. Pretty quickly, “the photographer” became my thing - what I was known for at school, at parties; my identity. By the time I was 14, I had photos published in international magazines, was winning competitions and began taking on clients. That’s when it hit me: this wasn’t just a hobby. I could actually turn it into a career someday.

I'm inspired by...

the balance of light & shadow / symmetry / art deco / organic modernism / mid century modern aesthetic / travelling

wide open landscapes / European architecture / coastal escapes and Mediterranean blues / the art of slow living

historic streets / cinematography / vintage decor / thrifting / cats / muted tones & earthy textures / film photography

these are a few of my favorite things...

 Frequently Asked Questions

01

Where are you based?

I live in Nova Scotia, and am available Canada-wide + internationally too! As an avid and frequent traveller, there's nothing more exciting for me than being able to combine the three things I'm most passionate about; weddings, photography & travel. Reach out to inquire about my travel rates.

02

Are travel expenses included in your packages?

Travel up to 100km is included in all wedding collections. A travel fee of $0.70/km (2024 CRA mileage rate) applies to all bookings that require over 100km of travel. Depending on distance + size of package, some Maritimes weddings require a 1 or 2 night hotel stay.

03

What is the average price one spends on a wedding photographer?

My average couple spends about $4800-6200 + hst locally.

04

When can we expect to receive our photos?

My turnaround time is 2-4 weeks for couples/engagements and 10-12  weeks for elopements + weddings. For weddings + elopements you can expect a small sneak peek gallery within 2-5 days. All photos will be delivered via a personal online gallery which includes a storefront for prints, canvas' etc.

05

How does booking work?

Send me an inquiry through my contact form, or shoot me an email and we'll chat/figure out the best package for you! I'll send you my contract to sign, you'll send me a 25% retainer fee towards your owing amount to secure your date, and then it's official! :)

06

What if we want something more extreme for our elopement?

Sounds like we're a perfect match! I've always been a very hands-on photographer, willing to do whatever it takes to get "the shot". Plus I love a good adventure, trying new things and any excuse to get out into nature. Just let me know what you're thinking and chances are, I'm in!
