Jessie + Jill’s east coast wedding at Inverary Resort in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia was a long-awaited celebration! These two were finally able to tie the knot after being forced to reschedule not once but twice due to the Covid-19 pandemic. They were both giddy with excitement while getting ready in separate suites the morning of their wedding.
As if rescheduling twice wasn’t frustrating enough, as the big day approached the weather forecast suggested extreme amounts of rain were going to affect East Coast Canada over the weekend. We spent the night before the wedding walking around the grounds of Inverary Resort, hoping to find a few areas that would be shielded from the rain for our portrait sessions. Expecting the worst, I brought with me a clear umbrella and assured these brides they’d have fantastic photos and an amazing wedding day, regardless of the weather. I showed them examples of wedding photos where couples used clear umbrellas, frolicking care-free outside in the rain, and they instantly fell in love with how sweet, romantic and magical they turned out – it was instant relief!
Luckily for them, Mother Nature had their backs and the rain eased up just in time to capture their first look outside in private, next to a beautiful Silver Maple tree. Jessie + Jill had been feeling quite nervous leading up to the wedding, so we figured what better way to alleviate some of those wedding day jitters than for them to have an intimate moment together before the ceremony. They kept their dresses a secret from one another, stuffed away in their closets for over two years, so this was a huge moment!
It was time for the ceremony! Overlooking the ocean and the mountains, Jessie + Jill opted for a timeless, simple wooden arbor decorated with vine leaves and white organza. Feeling less nervous now that they had some time together pre-ceremony, Jessie + Jill both walked down the aisle beaming from ear to ear, excited to finally marry their best friend. Having roots in Cape Breton, there was nowhere else they’d rather spend their special day.
From the very beginning, Jessie and Jill always said what was most important to them on their wedding day was ensuring everyone had fun. Their ultimate goal was to have a true-to-them rowdy East Coast party with their family and friends, no holds barred. Given their playful nature, and having met all of their loved ones, I knew they were all in for one of the best nights of their lives.
