How it all came to be:

Katie and Josh came to me a few months before their big day after their initial wedding photographer unfortunately had to cancel on them. We hopped on a phone call and got along like a house on fire within seconds! It was then that I learned they had met as kids when her parents purchased a cottage in the same cove as him and his family, and from that point on – he was always “the boy next door”. No matter what happened over the years, they both always knew they were never going to be just friends and always gravitated towards one another. This is a love-story of a classic teenage summer romance evolving into a lifetime commitment! Katie and Josh’s European-inspired modern wedding took place in the small town of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. As a photographer living in Halifax, Nova Scotia – I embraced the 4 hour drive (I love any excuse to travel!) and eagerly made my way to Fredericton; a town I had surprisingly never been to before.

A truly perfect elegant wedding

We started the day with some fun bridal portaits of Katie (read here about why I recommend booking yourself a separate bridal session!). Their celebration unfolded at First Light Distillery, a bright, modern industrial brewery, providing the perfect backdrop for a day filled with elegance and joy. Katie’s meticulous choice of rich gemstone hues for bridesmaids dresses seamlessly blended with the organic earth tones of her decor, creating the perfect harmony of colors. After their garden ceremony we headed down to Beaverbrook Art Gallery – a STUNNING building perfect for group photos and editorial style bride and groom portraits. We also stopped for an impromptu ice cream snack at an adorable food truck called Queen Street Creamery in downtown Fredericton, then headed to the Government House where we were able to get photos that looked as if they were taken in Italy. Shooting this wedding felt like I was shooting my own dream wedding (Katie and I quickly realized we are basically the same person and have the same taste) which made this wedding extra special to me! We both love European vibes, linen. accents, organic textures, neutrals, simple wedding dresses, pearls, baby’s breath, boho decor, etc! Congrats on your big day Katie + Josh!!
