Not only can wedding exits be so much fun for you and your guests (one last hurrah!), but they also make for some pretty incredible photos. From sparklers to rice and rose petals – the options are endless, but I’ve narrowed down some of my favourite ideas for you below!
It’s also totally up to you when you want to have your exit. Some choose to have theirs while exiting their ceremony while others have theirs during/after their reception at blue hour or once it’s dark out. Or hey, if you’re a little extra (like me), you can always do both! Also important to note – I likely will suggest a “fake” exit before the end of your reception for two reasons. 1) Chances are I won’t be there when you’re TRULY leaving your wedding venue to go home for the night and 2) we want to include as many people as possible in the photos; if we wait too long, chances are some guests will have dipped out, and others may be a little tooo tipsy to partake.
* Always consider whether or not your venue has any restrictions that may impact how you choose to do your exit!
Let’s start with the most popular option – one you’ve probably already heard and seen… Sparklers! A classic for a reason; these add a beautiful glow to your images and create a super fun celebratory atmosphere. HOT TIP: make sure you purchase long sparklers so we have plenty of time to get that winning photo. They photograph better and let off much more fire/light! You can snag these from Canadian Tire or Glow Parties.
An eco-friendly option that photographs beautifully! Biodegradable confetti will disappear in time with a pressurized hose or by simply letting nature do its thang. Support a small business by purchasing these from one of many talented Etsy artists, including the Confetti Farm Store – located in Canada!
For the romantic souls – you really can’t go wrong with flower petals for your send-off, and there’s plenty of options to suit your theme. Think: red petals for a winter wedding, dried neutral flowers for a boho vibe, or light pink petals for a spring wedding!
I LOVE bubble send-offs! They are so freakin cute, make for some really unique photos and require zero cleanup! HOT TIP: get a bubble bazooka gun or bubble machine! Check out this bubble gun on amazon, or pick up a bubble machine rental from Glow The Event Store in Dartmouth!
These look EPIC in photos, and the best part? The streamers stay attached to the poppers so all you have to do is wrap them back around their popper and voila! Mess-free, stress-free. Local to Halifax, Nova Scotia? You can find these at any Party City. Or check these out on amazon!
For those who want that fairytale experience and really wanna go out with a bang!
Balling on a budget? Popcorn is a super affordable send-off option that looks great in photos.
