As a wedding photographer who has had the privilege of traveling from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Greece multiple times, I’ve gained invaluable insights into the intricacies of planning the perfect Santorini elopement. Exploring its hidden gems and immersing myself in the local culture has equipped me with a deep understanding of the nuances that can elevate your elopement experience from ordinary to extraordinary. From navigating the best times and locations for stunning photos to forging connections with talented local vendors who can bring your vision to life, my firsthand experiences in Greece have empowered me to curate unforgettable moments tailored to each couple’s unique love story. Here are a few tips for planning your elopement in Greece; and there’s plenty more where that came from – when you book a destination wedding or elopement with me, I offer assistance with planning and location scouting too!
Santorini experiences peak tourist seasons during the summer months, particularly from June to August, when the island can be crowded and prices are higher. Consider eloping during the shoulder seasons of spring (April to June) or fall (September to October) to avoid the crowds, enjoy milder weather, and take advantage of lower accommodation rates. Not only will you experience fewer tourists, but you’ll also have a better chance of securing your preferred vendors and venues.
Santorini offers breathtaking views and romantic settings, but it’s essential to plan your elopement at the right time and location to avoid crowds and ensure the best lighting for your photos. Consider scheduling your ceremony during the golden hour (early morning or early evening) when the light is soft and flattering. It’s no secret that Santorini can be quite a touristy destination – so this will help with the crowds, give you guys some privacy and ensure you aren’t waiting in lines just to get the perfect photo. Also, explore lesser-known spots away from the main tourist areas for a more intimate experience and unique photos.
